SURF CHARITIES & ORGANISATIONS
Surfers Against Sewage - Surfers Against Sewage (SAS) is an environmental charity protecting the UK’s oceans, waves and beaches for all to enjoy safely and sustainably, via community action, campaigning, volunteering, conservation, education and scientific research.
The Wave Project - The Wave Project began in 2010 as a six-week pilot scheme to examine the benefits of surfing on the emotional health of young people working with professional services. The results of the pilot showed that going surfing once a week helped clients feel more confident, improved their outlook and gave them a sense of fun. Encouraged by the results, The Wave Project was established as a not for profit company. Since then, The Wave Project has developed an award-winning intervention that uses local surfers to help young people reduce anxiety and improve their emotional health. New projects have been set up all over the UK, including in Wales, Scotland and even inner-city London.
Surfing GB - Surfing GB is a not for profit, volunteer- led democratic membership organisation that provides an NGB service for UK surfing. If you are a British Surfer, Surf Coach, Surf Club or Surf School then Surfing GB is here for you. Surfing GB aims to deliver opportunity and support for all surfers in the British Isles, and is working with the UK Government, the EU, and commercial sponsors to bring new funding in to surfing to achieve those aims. Surfing GB is recognised by the ISA (the World Governing Body) as the organising body for British surfing and is the ISA voting member representing the UK.
SKATE CHARITIES & ORGANISATIONS
SkatePal - SkatePal is a non-profit organisation that aims to spread the love of skateboarding in Palestine. During his time volunteering as an English teacher in 2006, skateboarder Charlie Davis would take his board into the streets after class. He was amazed to find crowds of kids gathering round, asking how he made the board jump in the air, assuming there must be magnets in his shoes. He soon discovered that skateboarding was something new to Palestine, and the idea for SkatePal was born. Since establishing the charity in 2012, Charlie and a growing team of volunteers have been returning to Palestine on a regular basis; building skateparks and providing skateboarding lessons to young people across the West Bank. SkatePal also works with local communities to help provide access to new equipment and tools, as local skateboarders currently rely on donations from outside the country.
Live and Breath Skateboarding - Live & Breathe Skateboarding is a non profit skateboarding brand established in 2015 to help fund and negotiate improvements to our existing skate parks, as well as helping locate and fund new sites. L.A.B also aim to build indoor skateparks and plazas designed for skaters with the help of the local skaters. Created by skaters for skaters, every decision made will be for the better of the skate community.
